generator will not start

I have a small 1KW generator, which has hardly been used

Problem is that recently the generator will; not start, it has a spark and if I pour some petrol into the spark plug hole it will start first time and run OK except I need to leave some chock on. It will restart when hot but leave it for half an hour and it refuses to restart

I have taken the carb to bits and cleaned it out and used a spray to clean the carb but nothing

Bought new spark plug and petrol

so any help

its definitely a fuel problem somehow. remember, you need

fuel
air
spark

you have proven you have them and even get it to run by circumventing the carb. is there an inline fuel filter? or maybe the vent to the fuel tank is blocked?
