The best book about making websites

Hello,
What's the best book about programming or web design you have read?

I'm out of stuff to read and I want to read about other peoples experiences building a website or software. I had a list of good ones but I can't find it.

I got a lot out of Peopleware by Lister someone, so something similar to that would be good. If you are into programming and haven't read peopleware then you've really missed out on something important. If you're serious about webdesign and stuff, get to Amazon now and get it. Really.

OK, enough about my favourite. What are yours?

Yeah, good book Frank.  Here's the Amazon link to Peopleware, if anyone wants to see what it's about.  I bought it myself a few months back. It is more for those in a development team, including the bosses (I don't think there are many who haven't read it). I'm working alone, building websites, but I still got a lot out of it...

As for my favourite web design book, I can't remember any of the titles. I'm terrible that way. I do have a list of books that were recommended by the builders of the stack overflow website in a podcast they do every week. It's quite a list, so I'll just put a few of them here, along with the amazon links. It's easy for me to do, because I'll be ordering them myself in the next few weeks, so the links will make it easier for me too. I'll have to get to my home PC to bring up the notepad file with the book titles I wrote down from the podcast. The main one I want is called something like 'The non-designers design book' or something like that. I'll have a look.  Back in a little while...

Just remembered the name of one of my favourites as I was about to leave. It's called don't make me think. I grabbed the link to it.

OK then, NOW I'm leaving to check the list on my home PC. Back in an hour or so. It should be worth my while, because I've signed up with amazon as a reseller, though I've never sold anything, only bought stuff myself. I hope you buy one of these books Frank! Hehe. Doesn't matter, I'll be getting a few of them myself...

OK, back again. I need some sleep, so at the moment I can only put a few of the books that were mentioned in the web designers podcast. I'll come back and add the rest some other time -

That'll have to do for now. That should be enough to keep you out of mischief for a while. I've more of them written here, but I'll post them some other time if I remember. Most of them are only about $15 each so I'll be ordering them all at once I think. It saves on postage costs.

Thanks to the stack overflow team and their excellent podcasts for giving me this list of reading material. Great stuff.

Cheers.
Scott.
