I have the same problem and have been considering the same solution. But the floor in our garage slopes towards the interior walls, so now i also need to contain the water and force it to run toward the future drain. Not sure just what to do but will have to do something soon i think.

I have purchase a huge Shop vac for Wet and dry and it does the job for me, its great!
