So frustrated!

Hi, I have absolutely no idea what the heck I am doing...and im just getting frustrated. All I want to do is download a movie and then burn it onto a dvd. My laptop has a dvd writer and i bought memorex dvd-r disks. I have successfully burned 1 movie, but now the program will not work. I use utorrent to download, and then intervideo windvd creator to burn them ( which takes almost 2 hours). The problem I am having with the program is that it recognizes the video files as audio files! and does not play the video part... although I am postive that the files are video files because i am able to watch them in other media players that I have. I have also tried nero 8 and adensoft dvd burner programs which are faster, but when I try to play the dvds on my player it says "unknown disc". Soooo i tried to play them in my Ps3 and it plays the intro, then says "cannot play file"... I don't know anything about computers and Im so frustrated. If anyone has any advice, please let me know. you can email me at mrsfancypants04@aol.com if that is easier. thanks
