had a 900FE a few years ago... bought it new, put 5,000 miles on it all I did was change the oil, no problems. The stock seat is like sitting on a brick, but even with a wider Seargent seat, the limit was 1.5 hours before your balls cried for mercy. The bike is slow (compaired to 1000 jap bikes), but will out perform anything in the turns. I replaced the FE with a 749, which had a more comfortable riding position and more horsepower and better brakes, but wasn't any more fun to ride (FE is very light and tourquey), so I sold it after 1500 miles. Re: valve adjustment, I've owned many Italian cars with shimmed valves, but one look at the desmo valvetrain, and i quit. There are expensive special tools required, ... just have the dealer do it. |
