MS Windows 98 serial key needed
Hello. My laptop computer crashed real bad and I need to reinstall windows from the cd's I got with the computer. Before installing it asks for the serial key that is supposed to be stuck on the computer somewhere, but there isn't one.

Is there any way I can get another serial key from microsoft or something? My friend said I can use someone elses serial key but I won't be able to register it for updates. Does that matter?

I hope someone can help. There must be a way of doing it.

Just download a keygen from one of the file sharing programmes like winmx and it will create a serial key for you.

im trying to load winxp pro but when i try and load it on startup it says press enter to load, when i press enter the computer reboots itself

p.s i built the computer myself.

no, find your own keys. he just wanted a windows 98 key, don't keep asking.

search, www.warez.com and type then click "SEARCH P2P" i have warez p2p and it's great.

I had lost my 98 cd key (needed it cause I formatted my harddrive and found that I had the upgrade version of XP), so I googled it hoping I could find one on the web... and Dave's post was the first one I found.  Dave, you are the greatest!

Just got to DOS and type edit system.dat, do a search for PRODUCTKEY and you will find it. The only drawback to this is you must have enough memory to open the file. It can be done in Windows using a text editor, IE notepad or you can use Word. The key should be 25 digits/numbers. Hope this helps.....
